Parents & Kids: Pottery Wheel Workshop

  • House of Hobby Workshops 28 Drummond Place West Perth, WA, 6005 Australia (map)

This school holidays, we’re opening our doors for something extra special — creative workshops designed for parents and kids to enjoy together. All materials are provided, so you can simply turn up, relax, and get creative with your little one.

Get ready to get your hands muddy and make memories that will last long after the clay has dried!

This special workshop is designed for parents and kids to share the joy of trying the pottery wheel side-by-side. With plenty of guidance from our friendly host, you’ll both learn the basics of wheel throwing, from centering your clay to shaping it into a unique creation.

No experience is needed, it’s all about having fun, exploring something new, and enjoying the magic of making together. Whether your masterpiece turns out smooth or a little wobbly, it will be one-of-a-kind and full of love.

What’s included:

  • All clay, tools, and equipment

  • Step-by-step guidance from our pottery experts

  • Firing & glazing for one piece each to keep as a special keepsake

  • A warm, relaxed space to create and connect

  • Juice, tea & coffee provided

What to bring:

Clay is wonderfully messy! So be sure to wear some old clothes and covered shoes. We'll provide you with an apron on the night.

Important info about this workshop:

Following the workshop, your pieces will be bisque fired, clear glazed, and glaze fired before being returned for you to collect and treasure within 6-8 weeks.

If you create more than 2 x items, you can pay a kiln & glazing fee of $10 per item to turn other creations into usable ceramic vessels.

The pottery wheel can be challenging, sometimes on the first go, you might not create something you love. We will do our best to help coach you along the way. Ceramics can sometimes be unpredictable. Due to this, there are limitations on the size of your items, sadly pieces break during the firing process and we want to ensure you have a beautiful and functional piece. Trust us, we have had to learn from heartbreak! Don't worry though our expert will cover all of this at the start of your workshop.
