Introducing our sewing workshop course, taking place over 4 weeks. Designed to introduce you to sewing and help you practice your new skills, so you can walk away feeling confident and inspired to sew your own clothes and accessories.
Join us in West Perth, as we transform our workshop space into a sewing room. Our very own Em, will teach you sewing basics and guide you through a series of projects sharing her tips and tricks along the way.
This workshop series includes sewing machine basics, getting started stitching, upcycling fabric, sewing accessories, creating patterns ( to use time and time again) based on your body measurements, constructing garments and hemming.
What this workshop series includes:
Week One: Learn how to sew! We’ll cover machine and fabric basics, guiding you through sewing your first stitch. You’ll practice on an easy scrunchie project.
Week Two: We’ll touch on basic pattern making and drafting patterns from scratch. You’ll create your own tote bag, that you can customise to your style.
Week Three: Make a wrap skirt from scratch (pattern making & sewing)
Week Four: Finish off your projects
A Sewing machine to use. We want to make sure we are experts in the machines you are using so that if any issues arise we can troubleshoot them ASAP. Additionally making sure we have enough spare parts so everyone can enjoy the session without worry.
Tea, Coffee & biccies (BYO snacks welcome)
What you need to bring:
BYO fabric
We recommend quilting cotton for beginners that’s at least 110cm wide, we like to focus on upcycling fabric as much as possible, so hold off on buying lots of fabric until after week 1 of the course.
Week 1: 1 x fat quarter and any fabric scraps you have lying around. For the project in week one you can also bring old clothes to upcycle.
*Don’t forget your matching thread
Workshop dates:
Thursdays from 6pm - 9pm, September 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th
This beginners series is perfect for anyone who has always wanted to try sewing or learn sewing basics, skills learnt in this workshop can be used beyond the workshop to create your own pieces. All patterns used in this series are yours to take home and use time and time again.
