Top 5 Tips & Tricks for Embroidery

When starting a new hobby it’s always hard to know where to start and we know just how much information is out there so here are our top tips if you’re wanting to try your hand at embroidery!

Tip #1 - Don't spend money on fancy fabric. If you want fabric to embroider, go buy a cheap sheet set from Kmart or Target, the amount of material you get for the price is amazing!

Tip #2 - DO spend money on good quality thread! Using DMC thread as opposed to the cheap "25 colours for $5" embroidery thread pack will make the world of difference in your designs.

Tip #3 - Try and shop locally. I personally try to avoid going to Spotlight and instead go to Stitches Corner in Vic Park. They have a larger embroidery range, are cheaper and much better knowledge!

Tip #4 - The tighter your material is in your hoop, the easier it will be to sew.

Tip #5 - Use the time you’re embroidering as time for yourself. Drink some tea while you sew, put on your favourite tv show, use it as a time to focus on yourself and be mindful of each stitch.
